Positive Behaviour Reward System

Room 10 and Room 11 are using Class Dojo’s to reward those people who make the right choices.

Star Charts

Room 10 and 11 are making Star Charts during our Inquiry Time. We will be able to take these home and use them ourselves.

Mr Davis showed us how to use the star charts.

 

 

Super Star Lab

On Monday we went to the star lab.

It was fantastic. We got to look at constellations.

And the stars made pictures, we saw Matariki.

The lady told us stories about the constellations.

It was really, really cool to see all the stars.

It was really fun. It was a little dark. Some of the stars were on the ground.

It was so big inside and outside.

When we got inside we sat on some cushions and we were so quiet that it sounded like there are some mice in there.

Then a lady talked to us about stars. They talked about stars and planets. There were photos in there. 

Room10 Visits the Star Lab

On Monday we visited the star lab, it awesome.
Before we went in the tent the lady told us that Pluto was once a planet but now it isn’t because it was too small so now it is a dwarf planet. Then the lady told us if you see a star that is white and blue then it’s a baby star and its new and hot and if you see an orange and yellow star then it’s an adult star, old and cold.
After she told us that we went in the tent we were really excited. When we went in the lights went off it was really dark inside.
We saw a Scorpio, the Southern cross, Matariki, Orion’s  belt, phoenix and a centaur.

Then we finally went out of the igloo tent and on the way back we saw room 11 it was their turn.

It was the best thing ever.

Room 10 and 11s Visit to the Star Lab

Yesterday after morning tea we went to the hall. In the hall was a big black igloo shaped tent – this was the Star Lab.

First we listened to a lady talk about space and talked about a scorpion which is the constellation Scorpius.

Next we went into the tent, it was filled with air and was very dark a bit cold. There was a red light in the middle and this was supposed to be our sun. When the light was turned out we couldn’t see any one, it was weird when people talked because their voices echoed.

The lady turned the light out and the stars appeared. They also moved across the sky. Waimarie thought they were real because they looked so little – he was sort of right, they are projections of a real star map.

The lady told us some stories about the stars, especially about the Southern Cross and the stars that make up Matariki – the seven stars.

We also saw the different constellations – like Scorpius and Orion’s Belt.

We learnt lots about the stars, it was fun way to learn about them.

The Ozobots

We have had a chance to use the Ozobots from Active Minds Aotearoa.

We had a chance to play with the robots using different coloured vivids.

We discovered that the ozobots do different things with the different colours and their lights change as they go over the different coloured vivids.

It was a lot of fun
